Chapter Meeting - August 16, 2019

Primary tabs

Event Description:

Speaker: Mark Heckman, Ph.D., CISSP, CISA

Organization: President, ISSA Sacramento Valley Chapter and Professor of Cybersecurity and Computer Science, University of San Diego

Topic: When Security meets Development

Summary: It has long been recognized in the tech world that the best security comes from building security into a system, not from trying to layer it on after a system has been developed. Many organizations are trying to integrate security with operations and development, a process called "SecDevOps". But most security staff are not and have never been developers. How can they contribute to development of secure systems? In this talk, Heckman will discuss what it means for a system to be considered "secure" and how security practitioners can work with developers to build security into systems right from the start.
